Location Scouting

Our aim
For finding the right location to film our production, my group and I. aim was to look for a standard setting such as a home living room. As our intro plot involves a brother who died at home with his house completely ransacked, a living room would be an ideal location, so we got pictures of one our group members living rooms which he plan to use.

The living room
This  room was particularly effective because the flooring is exactly what we envision. It is a rough type of wood which would work well with the feel we are trying to get across to our audience. It was also a good size to put scatter objects and make the room look realistically trashed and it had many ornaments which could act like props, so this location was ideal.

The 6th form block
As accessing homes is much less likely, we looked towards places within school which could also provide effective settings for our production. A place we could make feel like a living room at home. We looked around our 6th form room and thought of ways we could manipulate this setting to provide an effective setting to film. The advantages were the 6th form block had a lot of spaces we could work with and there were many items we could manipulate to make props. However problems we encountered were the flooring. It was far too unrealistic and would ruin an effect of making the place look homely. School chars and desks we also felt would ruin the mood of our production so it was difficult considering this location.

The library
This place offered us lots space to film as well as a standard wood flooring we liked. The floor type was a big part for our production because the zoom pans on the broken objects would also capture the floor, as the type of floor would have a big impact on the mood of our play. It also offered many objects such as books, a sofa and chairs would would act as good props for the background, as well as our props on top.

The drama studio
This location offered the most flexibility, as it could be customized to however wanted our setting to look. The room consisted of empty space with just chairs so nothing was there by default. This meant we
could manipulate the room to attain the mood we wanted and we had lots of space to do so. It also had a very rough textured wood flooring which was perfect for the dark, sad mood we wanted to capture. Furthermore it had studio lights which also allowed us to be control the lighting of our production, and this meant we could further capture the desired mood we wished for. The only disadvantage is it would take a significant amount of time to create our setting and acquire enough props to fill the room with the effect we wanted.
